At the end of the summer semester 2021, more than 50 students of the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin from the fields of sculpture and painting present their final works.
The working conditions of the graduates were deeply marked by the great challenges of the Corona pandemic. At the same time, the works created during this time look far beyond and generate complex consequences.
The IPSO FACTO exhibition encompasses an enormous range of artistic approaches and works that deal with art-immanent questions as well as socio-political issues. The assembled paintings, drawings, photographs, video works, and installations interrogate the autonomy of material, technological development and urban influences, the ambivalent experience of loneliness, everyday mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion, the meaning of social origin, proximity and distance, and the enduring power of memory work and feminist rebellion.
